Classroom News
Welcome to Mrs. Jarvis's sixth grade class! I am so happy that you have made it to the class website. Feel free to click on things and look around. I am doing a reconstruction of this website so be patient as I am working on it. I will be available at school during the week from 7:45 until 3:15, so feel free to call and if necessary leave a message if I can't answer because I am live and teaching. I will be using the apps Edmodo, Class Dojo, Remind, and Khan Academy. It will be important that students learn to access their email as this will be one of the major communication avenues that I will use besides this website. Also, students will use Microsoft Teams to attend live instruction. Thank you for all you do with your kids, and students thank you for all you do to make yourself a success!
A Bit About Your Teacher
I have been teaching full time for 15 years. This year will make sixteen. I went to college in Redding, California, at Shasta Community College, Simpson University, and later on-line at Grand Canyon University based in Arizona. I hold a bachelors degree in liberal arts and a masters degree in secondary education. I have two wonderful children, Morgan and Michaela. Drawing, painting, crafting, crocheting, gardening, jewelry making (mainly with beads, but I drill my own stones too) and my chickens and turkeys are a few of my hobbies. Camping, kayaking, fishing, landscape and wildlife photography, and rock hunting are a few of outdoor activities I enjoy with my family. I love music and I can hold a tune. My favorite subjects are art, math (not always true), science, history, and literature. Being able to do things for one's self is one of the things I believe in. Nothing can replace the feelings gained from being self-reliant. If I can't accomplish something, I can always ask my husband.

Student Access to their email and Office 365
To login to your student account click the following link to the Tracy Unified's Student Portal. From this point you need to click the icon for Office 365. It will ask for your user name and password. Your user name is your student ID # followed by the '@' symbol, and then 'student.tusd.net'. So, it will look something like this [email protected]. The password to use is Password! If this does not work you will need to enroll into the District's Password Reset Program, to get there click here. Follow the instructions from there. Once you are in, you should be able to access any of the Microsoft applications you need, such as: Outlook (email), Power Point (slide presentation), Word (word processor), etc. Remember, any user name or password asked for while at a district website can be accessed with your district user name and password.
Study Sync - Language Arts Login Procedure
Study Sync is a bit involved. Mainly because I have to generate a list of random passwords for each user name. Then that password will work for only a limited time. Students will have to login and immediately change their password to something else, which they are prompted to do when they first enter the on-line program. Please write that password down in their textbook or folder. If they do not remember their password, I cannot reset it. They will have to contact me and have me generate a new random and temporary password and repeat the above process again if they do not write it down and/or remember it. On the language arts page and educational links page there are links to get to the place where students need to login.
Digits/Realize - Math Login
When students get ready to go to do their math work, they can find links to the login page on the math page of this website and the educational links page. In order to access Digits students will use their student ID # and TUSD with no spaces, (here is the pattern 12345678TUSD ). The password is in all lowercase letters - digits40. Theses instructions are posted in places students would go to access their login screens on this website.

The above picture shows my husband (far left), my Mom (next to my husband), my daughter's face is next, then me, and my son at the right. We are at the top of the continental divide in Glacier National Park, Montana. We made this trip in 2019. My family loves to camp and explore new places. We camped the whole way here and back home again and saw some really beautiful sights and a lot of wildlife.
Class Dojo QR Code for students only!
This is the student QR code to log into Class Dojo. Remember, that when you log in, you have access to your monster and any tools offered to customize your monster. You have the ability to take pictures of items you want to put in your portfolio. I think you can also look at your collected awards, and the areas in which you need to improve in terms of class behavior.
Use your device's camera to line up on and scan the code. If your device is newer and is connected to the internet it should take you right to Class Dojo. If your device is older you may have to download a QR Scanner App and use it to scan the code. Either way you should get to Class Dojo. If you still have trouble, use the envelope button at the top right hand side of the page to email me. Then I'll send a different way to connect with Class Dojo. Encourage parents to connect too. Class Dojo can be setup to translate messages into another language. This way, they can talk to me too. Don't forget the Class Dojo App is totally free!

Edmodo Code to Join
Open your web browser (yahoo, google, etc), go to the top of the page and click the place where you put a web address and type in www.new.edmodo.com/login and your browser will take you to Edmodo's login page. Scroll to the bottom of the page, where you'll see the words "don't have an account? Sign up." Click those words and do what you are prompted to do. When asked, the code is in the picture to the left. It is "case sensitive", which means it matter whether you use upper or lower case letters. So, type the code exactly as it appears in the picture. Parents can join the class using the same code, just enter yourself as a parent when asked. From there you should be all signed up. Make a post when you get in and say hi! |
Join REMIND to get any information that your teacher sends on your phone!
Remind is a great app (which is also free) to send reminders to anyone about anything. It is often used by coaches, teachers, and other group leaders. To join my group so you get reminders about tests and quizzes and other deadlines, you'll want to text the code in this picture from your phone by just putting @gak2hk in where you would normally put the number you are texting to, and hit send. That's it. Pretty easy so you can stay connected and reminded all the time.
I put the code in the description above because you seriously cannot see the code in the left hand picture.
