Welcome to the Science Page of Mrs. Jarvis's Classroom Website!
Hi everyone! It is time to get our science on! I absolutely love science, it is one of my favorite subjects because it is at times hands on. You are probably wondering how it is going to be hands on if you are distance learning. Well, that is a good question. Obviously, it can't be hands on if we are distance learning, but, to facilitate experimentation, I will include labs in my curriculum that can be done with things you might have around the house or can purchase inexpensively. I will also demonstrate each lab on a video and talk through the entire process what I observe with my five senses, so that you can write things down. I will post lab instructions so that you can try the lab out with a parent or older sibling (You should always have someone around to supervise and help when needed, and always communicate what you need to do for class). I will also use my camera in such a way that you actually get to see what I see. I want your sixth grade year in science to be exciting, memorable and full of opportunities to participate. You can post videos of your attempts to do labs in Edmodo, and that way, we all can see what everyone is doing. Oh yeah, if an experiment doesn't turn out as it should have, no worries. An attempt that does not turn out as planned is an opportunity to explore why, and that is just as educational because we gain experience as to why it didn't work. So, I want both your successes and your oopses.
Below are a number of topics that are linked to a designated page for that topic. There are four main categories listed below we need to cover for the year in science. There may even be some subtopics listed. Whatever the case, you will find supplemental materials, like websites, videos, pictures, and even your handouts for that topic on its page. Without further delay, let's explore some science!

Cells Cells, Heredity, and the Human Body are all part of the
Heredity same unit, but there is so much information on each
Human Body one I broke them apart into their own categories.
