So, how can you talk about poetry? Well, you might need a few basic poetry terms like stanza, rhyming scheme or pattern, beat, and mood. Check on the definitions of these words so you can discuss poetry within your family. Then discuss things like what is the purpose of this poem? What is the message this poem is trying to deliver? What kinds of figurative language does the poet use? Poetry often alludes to something completely different than the subject of the poem, does this poem do that? If so, what subject is actually being discussed? How do you know? Did you like the poem? What did you like? Did you dislike the poem? What did you dislike? What does your family think? Remember to use the vocabulary listed above to talk about the poems, then you'll sound like a real academic!
I am hoping that this will be a place where I can answer general questions and post information on various topics that are currently be covered in the curriculum. So, if this page works correctly you should be able to post questions or comments. Just remember, anyone who comes to visit can see what you have written.
